Let’s Move Essex Programme

Sessions are now fully booked

Versus Arthritis are working in partnership with Active Essex to provide free classes for people with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions to be active. All the instructors are experienced and fully qualified. They will also and have received additional training to understand the needs of people living with MSK conditions and how to support then to build activity into their lives.

The classes include face to face and virtual and will held at the following venues or online for 12 weeks:

  • Witham Leisure Centre, Spikes Lane – 2 classes, one on Wednesday’s 1pm-2pm starting 1st March and the second on Friday’s 11am-12pm, starting 10th March.
  • Braintree Sport and Health Club, Panfield Lane – on Monday’s 2pm-3pm starting 27th February.
  • Braintree Swim & Fitness Centre, Charter Way – on Wednesday’s 2pm-3pm starting 8th March.
  • The Place, Pitsea Leisure Centre – on Wednesday’s 1:30pm-2:30pm starting 1st March.
  • Laindon Community Centre, Laindon – 2 classes, one on Monday’s 11am-12pm starting 27th February and the second on Wednesday’s 1pm-2pm 8th March.
  • Virtual online class starting Thursday 2nd March at 6pm.

Sessions will be delivered by specially trained instructors who understand the needs of people living with arthritis and how to ensure they can provide tailored support.

Meet some of the fitness professionals working with us

Sarah Waller - Laindon

Sarah is a Level 3 qualified Pilates instructor, with additional training in arthritis and movement. Sarah believes movement is medicine for the body and will support you in discovering how movement can help you in your daily life. Pilates is a low impact form of exercise that suits all levels of ability and can and will be adapted to individual’s needs.

Adriana Welham – Braintree

Adriana has been a fitness instructor for over 10 years. They love helping people move and become more active so they can do more of the things they enjoy in life. Adriana will be teaching a range of activities that will help you improve your strength and flexibility and manage your condition.

Gregg Wyman - Whitham

Gregg has 17 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry and a passion for improving health and wellbeing. Their classes will provide attendees with support and encouragement to improve their day-to-day movements in particular balance and strength, as well as provide a much-needed group support.

Leila Hobart - Witham

Leila is a qualified personal trainer with over 4 years’ experience. They are extremely passionate about movement and helping people move within their bodies regardless of their abilities or experience. Leila will be delivering a range of low impact conditioning classes which are fun, interactive and help you with your overall well-being.

Laura Nurse – Pitsea

Laura has been practicing yoga for 11 years and became a qualified instructor in 2020. Yoga is something everyone can do and Laura aims to deliver a class that stretches, moves and strengthens you in a supportive and caring environment.

Jordan Boyce - Laindon

Jordan has been a fitness professional for over 2 years. Their passion in life is teaching people, fitness and making people happy. Jordan will understand your body's needs and ensure the class is built around what your body is capable of. You have full confidence that the classes will be a perfect fit for you every time.

Alison Clark - Braintree

Alison has been a fitness instructor at Braintree Sport and Health centre for 24 years and is particularly interested in helping people with health issues. Alison offers a varied programme of activities which can be tailored to an individual’s ability and needs.

Katy Harris - online session

Katy is founder SOSA Dance Fitness and has been an Ballroom, Latin, Salsa and Freestyle dance teacher for almost 30 years. Dance has been their life-long passion and to empower, inspire and create equal opportunities for people of all ages and levels of ability to experience dance… the greatest gift in the world.
