A support package for people waiting for joint replacement surgery
Over the last year, Versus Arthritis’ Impossible to Ignore campaign has called for the needs of people with arthritis to be addressed as the NHS restarts treatment and services. As they wait for surgery, often without a date for their operation, hundreds of thousands of people with arthritis are living with chronic pain.
This is why Versus Arthritis has developed a guide outlining six areas of support required by people with arthritis waiting for joint replacement surgery in England.
The guide covers communication, self-management support, mental health support, access to physical activity services and access to financial support and advice.
It is intended for Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), Primary Care Networks (PCNs), secondary care providers, public health bodies and social care providers, all working together with local communities and the voluntary sector to deliver these measures.
You can find the Joint Replacement Support Package here (PDF, 753 KB).
If you would like to talk to us about the Joint Replacement Support Package, how to implement our recommendations in your local area, or let us know that you have implemented any of these recommendations, please get in touch with our Policy team at policy@versusarthritis.org.
