What does the workshop entail and what will I receive?
The Core Skills in Musculoskeletal Care workshops focus on the practical skills required in a typical 10-minute GP consultation. The workshop provides a supportive environment for healthcare professionals on the frontline to develop confidence and skills in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with MSK conditions.
The workshops are split into three main sections: Spine, lower limb (knee) and upper limb (shoulder). The trainer will go through an example examination demonstration and explanation, including a management plan. You will then work in small groups to practice this with the aim of increasing confidence in helping patients manage common MSK conditions.
Upon completion of the workshop you will receive 7 CPD points which will go towards your appraisal. You will also receive a certificate of attendance and a handbook which can be referred to after the workshop.

Are the workshops suitable for me?
This course is designed by GPs for GPs and GP Trainees but is also beneficial for other frontline healthcare professionals such as Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists and Physiotherapists who support patients with musculoskeletal conditions. The 2019 delegates had this to say:
“An excellent day, I learned a lot and I am putting the knowledge to use in the management of my patients with musculoskeletal conditions.”
“An excellent course, one of the few truly aimed at improving GP skills.”
“This is the first course for a very long time where my expectations have not only been met but significantly exceeded.”
Core Skills workshops are currently on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions. We plan to resume delivery when it is safe to do so.
