The patient sits, hand pronated and arm supported. The probe is placed longitudinally over the midline of the wrist. Having identified the extensor tendons the probe is moved distally. The extensor tendon, radius, lunate bone are clearly visualised. The tendon may be followed distally over the capitate and third metacarpal shaft.
