Lateral longitudinal scan of the shoulder in neutral position

The patient sits with the shoulder resting in full adduction. The probe is placed longitudinally on the most lateral aspect of the shoulder just below the acromion. The skin, subcutaneous fat, deltoid muscle, subdeltoid bursa, supraspinatus tendon insertion and humerus are examined. The probe is moved inferiorly to examine the limit of the subdeltoid bursa.
