What do we do?
Versus Arthritis works with local NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups and healthcare professionals to offer Shared Decision-Making services for patients with osteoarthritis of the knee and/or hip. A shared decision-making service aims to provide high quality information on your health condition, in order to empower you to make informed decisions about your ongoing healthcare.
All our services are free for you to attend and are run virtually/over the phone and in Northumberland we also offer face-2-face services in local accessible venues.
What are the Living Well with Arthritis services?
Our free services are delivered by trained Versus Arthritis volunteers, with personal experience of arthritis, alongside our trained and experienced staff. We discuss ways to manage osteoarthritis symptoms such as pain, talk about positive changes that could be made and give information on all healthcare options available.
All our services provide you with up-to-date information to help you make decisions about all your healthcare options - including pain relief, surgery and exercise – and to help you improve the management of your arthritis. Once you have referred yourself to us, we will contact you. You will receive a range of publications and information when you attend our service.
We have been running our services across England since 2014 and have supported over 4,600 people:
“I didn’t know what to expect but was very surprised on how much information was given and how much it helped me. Very friendly too.”
“I wish my GP had referred me to a group like this months ago! Very positive session, thank you”
“I was pleasantly surprised, I got far more out of the session than I thought I would.”
