Who this opportunity is open to

Someone who:

  • has arthritis or MSK condition: (i) has arthritis or MSK condition; or (ii) caring for / supporting a person with arthritis or MSK condition
  • has lived experience of caring for / supporting a person with arthritis or MSK condition (desirable but not essential)
  • is aged 18 years old and over
  • can be involved online with a small group (2-10 people)
  • can be based from any location (this role is offered UK wide)

A bit about the role

People with arthritis and other MSK conditions and their carers are at the heart of Versus Arthritis. We want to ensure that this is reflected in the recruitment of key positions within the organisation including Chief Executive Officer and Trustee. To ensure that we’re able to do this in an effective manner ‘we’ would like recruit people with arthritis and other MSK conditions and their carers to form a pool of volunteers who could be called upon to form a panel as part of the selection process for these roles.

This role does not require a Criminal Records Check.

What does the role involve?

The areas of our work you would be involved with are:

  • Administration
  • Influencing decisions - e.g. being part of decision-making groups at any level; checking progress of our work/ critical friend; developing products/ services/ information.

A group of volunteers will meet online with candidates who have been selected for interview to ask them some questions, to answer any questions they may have, to assess their suitability to the role. The volunteers will then provide feedback to the selection panel to recommend areas to be explored further at interview and to inform their final decision.

To do this role you will need the following skills/experience:

  • Ability to share opinions diplomatically.
  • Administration skills.
  • Cross-organisational governance (leadership; integrity; decision-making; openness; risk and control; board effectiveness; Equality, diversity and inclusion and accountability).
  • Influence other people including decision-makers.
  • Interpersonal/people skills - ability to build relationships.
  • IT confident in using Microsoft Teams.
  • Verbal communication.

In this role you would be expected to uphold the following:

  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Interested in meeting and talking to people.
  • Respecting equality and diversity.
  • Reliable subject to e.g. health condition, extenuating circumstances.

Practical Considerations

You will need:

  • Access to a computer/laptop/smartphone.
  • Access to the internet.

Travel is not required.

Core training and induction is not required.
