Reigate and District Branch
Reigate and District Branch
When: Fourth Thursday of each month
Time: 2.30 pm
Our monthly meetings start with an optional half hour exercise session which is led by a qualified teacher. After a break to get our breath back, we have a speaker to entertain us for an hour. The talks may be about medical matters or something completely unrelated to arthritis, such as home security or the history of Fleet Street.
Sometimes we get together in groups and talk about the way arthritis affects us. We finish the afternoon with a cup of tea and a raffle. In addition, we arrange three trips a year to places of interest, from National Trust properties to horse drawn canal boat rides. We also have a Christmas Lunch which most members attend.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for our members. The exercise sessions improve mobility and pain management courses help us deal with the daily stress of living with a chronic condition.
We encourage a more positive attitude to life, in spite of the problems associated with arthritis. Members say that they enjoy the social benefits of belonging to our branch, meeting with friendly people who encounter the same day to day difficulties, sharing hints and tips for overcoming problems and having a good laugh!
