What types of gift can I leave in my Will?
When deciding to leave a gift in our Will to Versus Arthritis, there are many things to think about. Naturally, you'll want to make sure you take care of your loved ones first, making sure that any gift you may choose to leave to us doesn't impact on your ability to provide for them. That's why you may want to consider a residuary gift.
There are three ways in which your gift, big or small, could make a huge difference to future generations.
After you’ve made provisions for your loved ones, you can leave a share of what remains to charity. A residuary gift is a percentage of, or even all of, your estate.
When you'd like to leave an exact sum of money to charity, this is called a pecuniary gift.
You might suggest to your solicitor or Will-writer that your cash gift is index-linked to ensure that its value increases with inflation.
If you'd like to leave a particular item, such as property, antiques, paintings, jewellery and shares, this is known as a specific gift.
