Westminster manifesto

Millions of people in the UK live with the pain, fatigue and isolation of arthritis, without the support they need. We need to put the needs of people with arthritis on the political agenda so we can transform lives.

Alongside the huge personal impact of arthritis, it also affects our economy amounting to the third largest area of NHS spending, with an annual budget of £4.8 billion, and being the cause of one in five working days lost in the UK.

By getting the big decisions right we can make life better for everyone affected by arthritis, as well as having a positive effect on the UK economy.

Prevent, Transform, Cure – the Versus Arthritis manifesto calls for decision makers to put in place policies that will lead to the prevention and cure of musculoskeletal conditions, while transforming the service provided to those that live with them.

The manifesto calls for politicians to take action by:

  • making musculoskeletal conditions a public health priority
  • ensuring people have timely access to health and care services that enable them to improve their musculoskeletal health
  • ensuring people with musculoskeletal conditions have fair and timely access to services that support them to be in work, including financial support
  • protecting the UK’s position as a global leader in science and sustain the benefits of the life-science sector to the economy.

To deliver this ambitious agenda we’re asking MPs to become Arthritis Champions, and speak up on behalf of those with arthritis. Working together, we can make changes that give fuller lives to millions of people with arthritis.
