Having obtained the palmar longitudinal scan of the metacarpophalangeal joint, the flexor tendon, metacarpal head and base of proximal phalynx are identified. The superior portion of the flexor tendon is the flexor digitorum superficialis with flexor digitorum profundis underneath. By flexing the distal interphalangeal joint, flexor digitorum profundis is identified.
