Calls for Research Consortia

Over the next three years, we plan to invest over £15m to support Research Consortia, applying a team science approach, looking at an area from different disciplinary perspectives, sharing expertise and knowledge, and aligning efforts and outputs to deliver greater scientific impact and innovation.

This investment will bring together researchers, health and social care professionals, people with lived experience and other stakeholders to tackle some of the biggest challenges faced by people living with arthritis.

We are pleased to share at this early stage that one of the areas for initial investment will be clinical epidemiology.

Taking on the views of researchers and the challenges being faced, there will also be dedicated funding for hard-to-access infrastructure support.

We’ll provide more definition around these opportunities throughout early 2024.

Calls for applications for funding are scheduled to be live in Spring 2024, closing in Autumn 2024, for awards to be made before April 2025.

For more information on how you can get involved, contact us at researchliaison@versusarthritis.org.

Calls in our Priority Areas

As we continue to deliver on our research strategy, we will be seeking applications for research projects addressing our Early Detection and Targeted Treatments priority areas.

These will be alongside our Career Development Fellowships, for which Allied Health Professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Two new calls for applications will be released to fund research in our Living Well priority area:

  • one in collaboration with the Nuffield Foundation, investing Versus Arthritis funding alongside Oliver Bird legacy funding in social and economic well-being research
  • another funded by Versus Arthritis independently supporting research on how health services, communities, and employers can collaboratively work to improve arthritis lives.

Through these investments, we want to see a clear route to impact for people living with musculoskeletal conditions and arthritis.

Therefore, we would like to see applications from diverse teams, representing a variety of career experience, that could bring research to the next stage including implementing and scaling-up support.

The first of our award calls will launch in the Spring 2024, and others will follow later in the year.
